Second Semester Roadmap
Please take a few minutes to review our Second Semester Roadmap.

HCPS COVID-19 Data Dashboard
Hillsborough County Public Schools has created a COVID-19 Data Dashboard to inform parents, students, staff and the community about the spread of coronavirus in our schools.
The dashboard can be found at HillsboroughSchools.org/reopening/dashboard
The COVID-19 Data Dashboard will be updated automatically every 4 hours from 7a.m. – 7p.m. seven days a week. Schools impacted by COVID-19 cases are listed along with the number of employees and students.
We vow to remain transparent as we monitor the number of COVID-19 cases in our schools.
Co-Curricular Event Guidelines
We are excited to announce the return of live performances for many of our performing arts and Co-Curricular programs! Co-Curricular activities are vital to a well-rounded education—but we must only resume performances and events with the highest regard to the health and safety of our students, staff, and community.
As you will see in our Co-Curricular Event Guidelines, we are ready to welcome an audience to some, but not all, of our live performances. Our district worked in conjunction with our partners at TGH and USF Health to create these guidelines, and in the case of our musical and theater programs, we decided it’s best to only allow for virtual performances until January, at the earliest. However, for other programs, it’s been determined that we can return to live audiences, as long as there’s reduced capacity, social distancing, and a mask mandate in place.
Staffing Adjustments and Protecting the Classroom
Hillsborough County Public Schools is undergoing staffing adjustments based on student enrollment at each school. This process occurs every year in districts across the state. Adjustments usually occur at the beginning of October, however, due to COVID, implementing innovative instructional strategies and protecting student grades, we have elected to make scheduling and staffing changes at the end of the 1st Quarter. This will provide for a natural transition for all students, employees, and families.
Return to Athletics - Update
After considerable discussion and input from our health partners at TGH and USF Health, and based on the state’s transition to Phase 3, we will begin opening our athletic competitions to a larger number of spectators. Maximum capacity will be raised to 400 spectators for volleyball contests and 1,500 spectators to football games. All spectators will be required to:
- Purchase tickets through the online portal in advance at www.HillsboroughSchools.org/athletics on a first come, first served basis;
- Sit in groups no larger than 10 and maintain 6 feet of separation between other groups or individuals;
- Follow CDC guidelines on mitigating the spread of the virus.
As a reminder, schools will continue with online ticketing controls, paperless entry, and cashless concessions and parking.

School Reopening Plan for the 2020-21 school year
On Thursday during the School Board Workshop, Superintendent Addison Davis presented his detailed School Reopening Plan for the 2020-21 school year.
This plan evolved after extensive discussions with our health partners at Tampa General Hospital and USF Health. It is a fluid plan that we will continue to modify as the need arises.
The plan includes information about what returning to school will look like, an extensive look at each of our three learning options, and what steps will happen if there is a positive COVID-19 case in one of our schools.
Attendance Boundary Changes
The School District assesses school attendance boundaries based on a variety of reasons including, but not limited to, programmatic changes, enrollment growth, and newly constructed capacity.
