Tampa, Fla. – (October 29, 2019) – Success, kindness, self-worth – just some of the words that are now part of a permanent work of art on display for students and staff at Dr. Carter G. Woodson PreK-8 Leadership Academy.

Local artist Ya La’ford guided students through the process of designing and creating a line mural comprised of positive words that reinforces the importance of treating others with dignity and respect.

On Wednesday, October 30, at 8:30 a.m., Ya La’ford will be joined by Superintendent Jeff Eakins, Mayor Jane Castor, School Board Members and students to dedicate the Word Wall of Kindness Mural, located in the hallway in front of the school’s main office. The address for Woodson PreK-8 is 8715 N. 22nd St., Tampa.

Students worked for weeks on the project, sharing their impressions of their community, how they fit in, what they contribute, how we are all connected and the importance of valuing themselves and others. Now they will leave a lasting legacy for future students.

The staff at Dr. Carter G. Woodson PreK-8 Leadership Academy work every day to ensure students achieve intellectual and personal excellence through leadership development, innovative learning and individual responsibility.
