Hillsborough County Scholarships through the Florida Prepaid College Board

Hillsborough County Public Schools was chosen to receive two scholarships from the Florida Prepaid College Board. In return for the scholarships, Florida Prepaid has asked us to promote the scholarships and their mission to help Floridians to save for college.

Working with Florida Prepaid, we have designed two scholarships that will help advance two of our district’s needs.

Superintendent Jeff Eakins' Future of STEM

Superintendent Eakins’ The Future of STEM Scholarship is a 2-Year Florida College Plan with a value of $8,000 for one deserving student who wishes to pursue a career as a Teacher specializing in STEM subjects.

Eligibility:

  1. Available to high school juniors and seniors registered at and attending high school in Hillsborough County Public Schools
  2. Declared interest in becoming a STEM Teacher
  3. 3.0 GPA
  4. Please provide a 500-word essay describing why you are interested in Teaching - specifically in the fields of science, technology, engineering or math.
  5. The winner must provide documentation that they are Florida residents and citizens. If the students are not U.S. citizens, the students must provide documentation as resident aliens or the children of resident aliens
  6. Application due via email by April 30th, 2019 at 5 p.m. to Laura Woodard, Communications Department – Laura.Woodard@sdhc.k12.fl.us.

Superintendent Jeff Eakins' Preparing Students for Life

Superintendent Eakins’ Preparing Students for Life Kindergarten Scholarship is a Florida Prepaid 529 Plan Scholarship with a value of $1,000 for one student whose family member or guardian has attended a Kindergarten Countdown event and/or who has started the registration process to attend Kindergarten by April 30th, 2019 for the 2019-2020 School Year.

Eligibility:

  1. Florida Prepaid Scholarship Award is open to all children whose family or guardian either attend a Kindergarten Countdown and/or has started the registration process to attend Kindergarten for the 2019-2020 School Year by April 30, 2019.
  2. The winner must provide documentation that they are Florida residents and citizens. If the students are not U.S. citizens, the students must provide documentation as resident aliens or the children of resident aliens
  3. Kindergarten Countdown attendance sheets and kindergarten application names will be gathered from each school site on or after May 1, 2019. One name will be randomly chosen for the scholarship.
