The state has directed all school districts in Florida to keep schools closed through the end of the school year due to concerns over the coronavirus. More information is available on our Coronavirus Information page.
A MESSAGE FROM SUPERINTENDENT JEFF EAKINS REGARDING THE SURVEY ON EXCEPTIONAL STUDENT EDUCATION (ESE)
We are asking for your input… Your VOICE… To help us determine how well we are supporting our ESE students.
Each year, the Florida Department of Education surveys families of children with an individual education plan (IEP) to measure how well each school is partnering with parents and working together to enhance their child’s education.
All states must collect this data as a requirement under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)—But the information gathered from this survey means SO MUCH for our schools and our students. For example, because of information gathered from previous surveys, Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resources System (FDLRS) now offers more parent training sessions in the evening as well as upon request at individual schools. We have also updated our Exceptional Student Education portion of the website, offering information about organizations that offer support for families and clarity on the process when you may disagree with a decision of the school.
In order for your voice to be heard, this survey must be completed by May 31st, 2020.
