Raising Awareness About Energy Conservation

Be energy wise - conserve energy and water by turning off lights and tightening leaky faucet handles.

Our objectives include:

  • develop awareness at all facilities
  • reduce utility costs by at least 12%
  • conduct detailed studies of electric, gas, water and sewage usage
  • develop and monitor incentive award programs in schools
  • interface with utility companies
  • review and evaluate utility billing for HCPS

2018-2019 Energy Conservation winners - Muller Elementary Magnet School

Congratulations to Muller Elementary Magnet School for earning the Ryan A. Raines Energy Award for the 2018-2019 school year. This award is given to a school each year who saves the most energy in memory of Ryan A Raines who was an Energy Mentor for Hillsborough Schools. School was awarded a $1,000 check and a permanent plaque to proudly display their accomplishment of reducing their energy consumption by 29 percent compared to last year. Approximately $27,864 of energy savings will funnel back in the district to support schools. All achieved by maintaining proper HVAC & lightning schedules, and verifying all door and windows are closed.
