

Lockhart teacher Felecia L. King receives governor's Shine award
Lockhart Elementary Magnet's Felecia L. King was recognized this month by Gov. Rick Scott as one winner of the SHINE Award, given to educators who have made significant contributions to the field of education. King, a fourth-grade teacher, has taught for 12 years, including the last two at Lockhart, an East Tampa magnet school for science. She is part of the High Impact Teacher Corps and Leadership Florida's Education Class III.
What's your favorite thing about teaching?
Has been and always will be working with students.
What's your favorite thing about your grade level?
It's always about the team and our ability to work together. Jason McGregor and Jessica Dennard are the best!
What would you want a visitor to notice about your classroom?
An enviroment build on relationships. Students are free to take risks with the expectation of learning from their mistakes.
