Safe Routes to School
Safe Routes to School is a national, state, and county-wide effort to promote walking and biking to school and making walking to school, safe, popular, and fun for families. In an effort to decrease traffic congestion around schools and increase safety, academic performance and wellness for HCPS students, the Transportation Department has collaborated with Hillsborough MPO School Transportation Work Group (STWG) chaired by Board member Cindy Stuart.
Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) and Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) have joined forces as part of an ongoing partnership to raise awareness on bicycle and pedestrian safety for HCPS students.Read More
As students get ready to head back to class, Hillsborough County Public Schools is preparing for more kids to walk and bike to school. About 7,500 students within 2 miles from their school are no longer eligible for courtesy busing.Read More
HCPS is encouraging parents to attend the School Transportation Resource Fairs that are being held at school sites throughout the District. Whether your child walks, bikes, gets a ride or takes the bus, families will find information and helpful tips at these events, along with representatives from HCPS and various other state and local agencies and organizations who are be present to answer questions and concerns.
